MINUTES for SEPTEMBER 15 (notetaker, Emily Reilly)
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

TTT meeting, September 15 at the Aptos Fire Station.

Hello All! What follows will be the least complete and most informal of
minutes.

I wish I could convey my excitement after this last meeting, not
necessarily with prt (although I am very interested in learning more
about it) but with the experience of the meeting itself. At 7pm we broke
up and I thought 'wow, that's what I've been hoping for...!"

The participants were: Ed Porter (and his handouts), Dave Walworth,
Allen DeGrange, Jim Carter, Joe Jordan, Wolfgang Rosenberg, Bob Burke,
Mike and Janet Singer, Bruce Gabriel and Emily Reilly

We watched two videos and then Ed was bombarded with questions.
"Has it been tried anywhere?" "How much would it cost to ride it"
"How much would it cost to build it?" "It would look ugly. Does it have
to go right down the street?" "How do we find out more?" "Is there a way
to have an attached storage compartment?" "How do we get one here?"
"Would it be possible or desirable to get it up to UCSC?" "Would it
possible, or desirable to get it to go over 17?...to mention a few.

The videos were thought provoking. The questions were provocative.
The discussion was lively.

You'll notice I'm not really telling you anything about what happened.

Partly, that's because I kept forgetting to write notes since I got
caught up in the discussion, listening to intelligent, articulate
comments, questions and disagreements; hearing passionate, enthusiastic,
funny remarks, straight from the heart.

Partly, it's because 'you just hadda be there'.

Conclusion?
1. a discussion of prt leads to more questions.

2. J Edward Anderson, the inventor, is ready to come to Santa Cruz to
talk about it.

3. The 'Citizens for PRT' group is looking for members. This group wants
to encourage transportation planners to consider prt.
Contact Ed Porter. (EPORTER95@AOL.COM)

4. The Singers website has beaucoups links for more prt information
(www.cruzio.com/~forums)

5. Private corporations are looking for sites for prt, hoping to 'grow'
one, as a for-profit business.

We expressed interest in having Mr. Anderson come at some point, perhaps
to speak to the committee working on the new SC transportation plan and
asked Ed to keep us informed on his progress. Ed will mail, fax or email
information to anyone interested.

Next meeting's agenda (October 6 at Emily's Bakery 1129 Mission St)
will include a discussion of a county-wide origin/destination study
and an update on the MetroBase forum, loosely scheduled for Winter,2000.
